General Information: The United States Government issues 50,000 permanent resident cards (Green Cards) every year through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery. Applicants are selected randomly by a computer-generated drawing. If selected, the main applicant, spouse and all unmarried children under 21 years of age will have a chance to apply for permanent resident status in the United States. The process of completing and submitting a DV Lottery application can be confusing. IRC Office can help you submit the application in time according to the strict requirements. It is a misconception to believe that “winning” the Green Card Lottery automatically grants the selected applicant U.S. residence, a Green Card or United States Citizenship. There are several additional forms and documents that must be submitted to the U.S. government before the applicant receives permanent residence in the United States.

Application Requirements: There are several requirements, including:

  • Claim nativity in an eligible country
  • Meet either the education or work experience requirements.
How to Submit the Application: Immigrant resource Center (this website) submits Green Card Lottery applications on your behalf upon receipt of your or your family’s photos, mailing address, phone# and the service fee.  Please find the separate sheet with all office service fees per application.

What to do if you are selected: Every year 100,000 winning notification letters (Notice of Approval) are mailed to the applicants selected through the electronic drawing. The "Notice of Approval" does not guarantee that the applicant and his/her family will receive a Green Card. The Notice of Approval means that the applicant has been selected to continue the application process. The "Diversity Immigrant Visa specialist at our office can help you with all instructions on how to submit the initial application as well as the application procedures and the official immigration forms that must be completed if the applicant is selected in the drawing.

IMPORTANT: Registration for the 2007 Green Card Lottery (DV-2008) closed on December 4th 2007.  The "Diversity Immigrant Visa Program Application Guide" contains important information on how to proceed with the DV Lottery application process if the application is selected in the initial drawing.  Individuals who applied for the 2006 Green Card Lottery (DV-2007) will find this application guide very useful when submitting the additional forms and supporting documents required by the U.S. government.  The "Diversity Immigrant Visa Program Application Guide" also contains information about upcoming DV Lottery programs, including the 2008 Green Card Lottery (DV-2009).
